Long Road to Celebration

November 20, 2012 § 2 Comments

Today is Universal Children´s Day. According to UN, in 2000 world leaders outlined the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) – which range from halving extreme poverty to halting the spread of HIV/AIDS and providing universal primary education, all by the target date of 2015.

The following are very recent news headlines:

WHO: “It has been estimated that every minute eight under-five children die in sub-Saharan Africa.”

BBC News: “International charity Save the Children has warned 200,000 Syrian refugee children are at serious risk from freezing temperatures, as winter sets in the Middle East.”

The Telegraph: “Palestinian children killed in Israeli airstrike on family home in Gaza.”

Definitely, someone is not realistic or forgot certain commitments.
