A Thing of Wonder

“A snow day literally and figuratively falls from the sky,
unbidden, and seems like a thing of wonder.”
~ Susan Orlean

As shown in the collage, we went hiking again this weekend. In this case, a wonderful snowy layer covered Peñalara, the highest mountain peak in the mountain range of Guadarrama, a subsection of Spain’s larger Sistema Central mountain chain, which divides the Iberian Peninsula.

Due to the strong blizzard and limited visibility, we decided not to reach the top in this occasion, but enjoyed the trail very much and got the most out of that thing of wonder that falls from the sky, as described by Susan Orlean in the heading quote.
